Welcome to the College of The Albemarle! You have chosen an exceptional place to continue your education, and I know the staff, faculty, students, and Board of Trustees join me in congratulating you on taking the next step toward creating your new success story.
Our college has a rich, 50 year history of providing exceptional educational and workforce development opportunities for the northeast region of North Carolina. We are the northeast region's community college, one of 58 community colleges in the preeminent North Carolina Community College System, serving seven counties (Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Pasquotank, and Perquimans). We look forward to continuing to engage and impact the lives of our citizens.
As a comprehensive community college, we offer the business owner opportunities to improve customer service, or the entrepreneur guidance in developing their dream business. We assist those individuals who need to earn a high school credential or its equivalent. We offer career opportunities for individuals who desire to learn a skill or enhance their current knowledge base for job advancement. We provide an excellent academic pathway for individuals who want to eventually transfer to a four-year university. We even provide you the opportunity to take a personal enrichment class - just for fun! Whatever you aspire to achieve, we know that the opportunity of learning changes everything!
We are excited about the future of our college and look forward to your becoming a part of the COA family as we assist you in reaching your educational and personal goals. I invite you to explore the catalog, peruse the website, visit one of our three campuses, speak to our faculty and staff, share with us all you hope to achieve while at COA and beyond. Let us help you create your success.
Our overall objective is to help you fulfill your aspirations, hopes, and dreams. At COA, we are transforming lives, transforming tomorrow's workforce, and transforming our region and state by fostering success for each of our students.
Best wishes for your future,
Dr. Kandi W. Deitemeyer
