Faculty Celebrations

Rebecca Walker, BS,CMA (AAMA), CPC, COA Medical Assisting Progrram Coordinator, will be presenting a program entitled "How to successfully Merge I9 to I10 " at the North Carolina Society of Medical Assistants annual meeting to e held in Asheville, NC on April 1-3,2011. The program has received CEU approval from the American Association of Medical Assistants. It will focus on the transition from the current diagnosis coding system of ICD-9-CM to the updated and very different ICD-10-CM.

Laura Morrison had a paper accepted to the Top Papers in Gender Studies Panel at the Southern States Communication Association. She will be presenting on March 25, 2011.

On March 15, 2011, Ben Woolston, received his pastoral ordination by Redemption Ministries Pentecostal Holiness Church and is at Fountain of Life Ministries Church in Elizabeth City. Ben is one of COA’s Basic Skills instructors at Pasquotank Correctional Institution.

Gloria Baker, College of The Albemarle A.D.N. faculty member, received the Student Research & Creative Activity Award for 2010-2011 Academic Year, for her presentation at the AHEC 2nd Annual Simulation Conference in Greensboro on September 16, 2010. She received this award at an awards ceremony held at East Carolina University on April 12, 2011. Her presentation was entitled, “Nursing Students’ Learning Outcomes in Stimulation: A Review of Literature”.
