From Dislocated Worker to Dual Diploma Graduate - Troy Capehart

After graduation from John A. Holmes High School and after 12 years working at Edenton Dye and Finishing, Troy Capehart found himself unemployed when the plant closed.   Instead of looking for another job, Troy saw an opportunity to “go back to school and better myself.”   “College was something that never really crossed my mind” after high school, but now, without a job and without special skills, Troy found his way to College of The Albemarle’s Edenton-Chowan Campus. Troy worked hard while taking classes in both Building Construction Technology and Electrical/Electronics Technology and graduated with dual diplomas in May 2009. And he’s not done yet; Troy is coming back to COA for the HVAC Technology program of study. “What I like best about COA are the instructors as they always go the extra mile to help me and my fellow students.  In fact, their actions have inspired me to push even harder to succeed in my life.”
