Enrolling at COA is Easy! Follow these six steps.
1. Apply for Admission
Apply for admission online
. If you experience log-in issues or need assistance with the CFNC account, please call 866-866-2362. Students who have not attended COA for one year prior to the semester they plan enroll in must re-apply for admission (Example: a student who last attended COA Spring 2013 must apply for admission for Fall 2014). For information on what programs COA offers explore our Programs of Study or Career Services for help choosing a program.
2. Apply for Financial Aid, Scholarships and Veterans Benefits
3. Submit Transcripts
Submit all high school/GED and college transcripts (if applicable) to the Admissions Office to ensure that you are registered properly and awarded any transfer credit. North Carolina GED graduates can order your GED transcripts
to submit. NC high school graduates may be able to bypass developmental classes if they meet the criteria
4. Create Your COA Login
After you apply to COA, you will receive your Student ID number and instructions on how to create your COA login and access your accounts at the Student Portal
. Once you create your COA login you can access your myGmail, myWebAdvisor, and myCourses (the college’s online education software). Students must complete the online myCourses Orientation in myCourses to take any online, hybrid and most classes.
5. Take the Placement Test
A placement test is required for all curriculum programs. All or part of the placement test may be waived. Review our waiver policy and exam schedule in Placement Testing.
6. Attend an Orientation/Registration Sessions
Once you have taken the placement test or had it waived, you can sign up to attend an Orientation and Registration Session
. Students with less than 12 credit hours of college credit or who have never attended college are required to attend an orientation/registration session. Students who have earned 12 college credits or more at COA or another college are not required to attend orientation. You should sign up for an orientation/registration session at the campus you will be attending.
