COA completed a conference series sweep of Stanly Community College on Saturday, April 3rd. After taking the first two games on Friday, the Dolphins used a 3-run 8th inning to break open a tie game and win the finale 8-5. Stanly CC got a two-run homer from Derek Moses in the 8th, his second of the game, to knot the score at 5 a piece. However, in the bottom half of the inning, Tyler Barrington led off with a double, and scored two batters later on an RBI single from Ross Cardwell. Jake Stone added a 2-run single to cap the scoring. Gavin Mizelle pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 runs. Jonathan Brantley earned the win in 3 innings of relief. Stone finished the game 3 for 4 with a double, triple, and 4 RBIs. Cardwell, Matt Ittner, and David Hughes each had 2 hits and an RBI. The Eagles were led by Moses, who went 3 for 3, and Chris Donathan, who went 3 for 5 with a home run. COA is now 9-2 in conference play. The Dolphins will travel to play Newport News Apprentice at 3pm this Wednesday, before playing a key weekend series against Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory on April 10th and 11th.
