COA won one of three games during the April 10-11 weekend conference series against Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, NC. After losing two games on Saturday 13-3 and 10-0, the Dolphins won Sunday's finale 11-9.

Game 1 (4/10/10)

COA trailed 4-3 heading into the 7th inning of game 1 against Catawba Valley Community College, but the Buccaneers scored 4 runs in the 7th and 5 runs in the 8th to break the game open. Kirk Higgins scattered 6 hits in 6 1/3 innings while suffering his first loss of the season. Left-hander Aubrey Meadows limited the Dolphins to 6 hits in going the distance for CVCC. David Hughes had 3 of the Dolphins' hits, while Josh Pryor had 2. Zac Merriken went 4 for 5 for the Bucs, and Ethan Johnson was 3 for 4 with a home run, double, and 5 RBIs.

Game 2 (4/10/10)

Left-hander Andrew White held COA to 4 hits and pitched the distance in leading CVCC to a 10-0 win over COA. The Dolphins were shut out for the first time this season. CVCC scored 4 runs in the third, with the help of an RBI double by J.W. Laney and a 2-run homer by Merriken. Johnson hit his second home run of the day in the 5th, as the Bucs tacked on 4 more runs. Chad Gurganus suffered the loss for the Dolphins, giving up 9 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Game 3 (4/11/10)

COA used 15 hits and a strong pitching performance from Eddie Perkins to take the finale against CVCC 11-9. The Dolphins took a 9-3 lead into the bottom of the 8th before the Bucs rallied for an exciting finish. CVCC scored 6 times in the 8th with the aid of 2 COA errors to erase the deficit and tie the score. In the top of the 9th, Ross Cardwell and Jake Stone led off with consecutive walks, and Gavin Mizelle scored them both with a double down the left field line. Ross Jarzynka relieved in the bottom of the 9th, and gave up consecutive singles to start the inning. A bunt moved both runners into scoring position, but Jarzynka struck out Merriken and forced Laney to fly out to center field to end the game. Mizelle was awarded the win in 2 innings of relief, and Jarzynka notched the save. Cardwell was 3 for 5 on the day, with 2 doubles, and Mizelle also added 2 doubles. Perkins and Stone each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs, and Hughes added 2 hits and 3 RBIs.
