COA took at 3-2 win over Newport News Apprentice School at Knobbs Creek Park on Wednesday, April 14th. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 5th, when a Kyle Carlson single plated Robert Jacot, who had doubled earlier in the inning. Newport News Apprentice answered in the top of the sixth inning, when first baseman Jonathan Dehoux blasted a 2-run homer over the left field fence. However, COA came back in the bottom of the 6th, scoring 2 runs. An Eddie Perkins sacrifice fly scored Jake Stone, who had reached on a single and moved to third on David Hughes' base hit. Hughes later scored on a single from Jacot. Eight COA pitchers limited the Builders to 7 hits. Jonathan Brantley picked up his 4th win of the season, and Perkins earned his 4th save. Matt Ittner turned in a stellar defensive performance at short stop. The Dolphins travel to Wilkes Community College for a three-game series this weekend, before returning home for a double-header against Lenoir Community College on Wednesday at Knobbs Creek.
