BLET Graduates Recognized

College of The Albemarle’s Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Program held a recognition ceremony on Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Elizabeth City Campus.  Keynote speaker for the event was the Jeffrey P. Powell, M.D., D.D.S., F.A.C.S., Eastern Virginia Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialists. 

Mr. Joe DeStefano, Interim School Director reminded the BLET students how much they accomplished in their sixteen weeks of training.  From beginning to end, these students had 624 contact hours, studied 35 distinct blocks of instruction, took 35 topical tests, took 19 practical exams, and successfully completed the POPAT physical training course.

Special recognition was awarded to William Clifford Tice as the group’s honor graduate and Jason L. Dowdy as “Top Gun”, as he was the best shooter overall in the Firearm Class.

The ceremony honored the following students, listed by county of residence:

Camden County: Douglas A. Dew and Lamond James

Chowan County: Brian Allen Adams, Louis Vincent Dimino, and Richard C. Winebarger.

Currituck County: Jason L. Dowdy, Melinda Sherrod Forbes, and William Clifford Tice.

Dare County:  Jonathan Stanley Ballance, Keri Noel Toler Calbio, Brian A. Ice, William Christopher MacDonald, and Daniel Ryan Meads.

Pasquotank County:  Tammy Marie Dillard, Terrence E. Farley, and James D. Lamb III

Perquimans County:  Eric Wall
