Thirty-one Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) students received their nursing pins at College of The Albemarle’s (COA’s) thirty-ninth annual pinning ceremony on Thursday evening. Held in the COA Auditorium, the evening ceremony was a traditional service and included pinning lapel pins, lighting nightingale lamps, and taking the International Council of Nurses’ Pledge.

Nursing awards were presented by COA Associate Degree Nursing faculty, Dr. Jill Kerr, Mary Blackburn, Katherine Evans, an Gloria Baker.  Academic Recognition Certificates were presented to Megan Hofner, Natalia Goninan, Virginia Zdanski, and Julie Gwin.  These graduates maintained a 3.5 grade point average or better throughout their time in the program.  The Academic Excellence Award,
presented to the graduate with the highest grade point average in the class, was presented to Jessica McKeever.  The Dr. L. Everett Sawyer Award, presented to the student who most exemplifies conscientiousness and zeal for learning, was awarded to James White.  Students receiving the Dr. Zack D. Owens and Martha Anderson Owens Nursing Endowment Scholarship awards were Natalia Goninan, Jessica McKeever, and James White.
