Rebecca Walker, College of The Albemarle’s Program Coordinator for Medical Assisting has been appointed as a member at the national level for the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB). 

The MAERB evaluates postsecondary medical assisting programs to ascertain their substantial compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Medical Assisting Programs adopted by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). The MAERB recommends programs to CAAHEP for accreditation based on this review.

Ms. Walker has been the Program Coordinator for Medical Assisting for the past two years at COA, has completed several accreditation visits as a site visitor for MAERB, and has been a member of the local AAMA chapter for over 24 years.  She served as past national president of the AAMA in 2007 and is currently serving as Vice President of the local chapter and Parliamentarian for the state AAMA organization.
