College of The Albemarle’s Foundation Executive Director, Ann M. Hoffman, presented Ashley Bain, a COA student, a new laptop computer to use for her online college classes. Ashley, a Business Administration student, recently lost her home to the tornados that touched down in April. Her son, Gavin Soto, died as a result of injuries related to the tornado.
The COA Foundation Office and Bobby Marchbanks, store manager of the Walmart in Elizabeth City teamed up to purchase the laptop for Ashley as a way to give back to someone who had lost so much.
The purpose of the College of The Albemarle Foundation is to aid, strengthen, and further in every proper and useful way the work and services of College of The Albemarle, and to provide broader educational opportunities to its students, faculty, staff, and to the residents of the area served by the college.
