As it continues to expand course offerings through the federally funded JobsNOW program, College of The Albemarle remains focused on providing skills based training for green jobs. The College has conducted a successful pilot program on residential energy auditing and is planning to offer several new training programs within its northeastern North Carolina service area. “In keeping with our mission of creating success,” says COA Acting President Ray Scaffa, “these courses are intended to provide workers with new skills and provide them a competitive edge in today’s tough job market.” Programs that will be offered during the spring months include Weatherization Techniques, Photovoltaic Panel Technician Training, Sustainable Landscaping, Green Housekeeping and Custodial Methods as well as a repeat of the Energy Auditing training program.
COA’s future plans call for repeating the courses – and possibly adding new ones – based on demand. In the meantime, students can get details on course dates and fees, and can register for any of these scheduled classes, by calling COA’s JobsNOW program director at 252-335-0821, extension 2313 or visiting the college website at www.albemarle.edu. |
