College of The Albemarle's Academic Support Center is staffed with peer and professional tutors who can offer extra help for students who are struggling with their coursework. Offering assistance in a variety of subjects, the Academic Support Center is a free service offered to all current COA students.

Individual/Group Tutoring
Free tutoring is available to all COA students through scheduled sessions. Students who are currently enrolled in curriculum courses and have a referral from their instructor can receive tutoring. Services are offered on all campuses. To apply for a tutor complete the Instructor Referral form and return it to the appropriate individual.
Math Center
The Math Center is available on all campuses and is open during designated hours throughout the semester. Students can come by anytime during open hours and receive assistance with the math concepts and skills associated with their math class. An Instructor Referral form is needed to attend the Math Center. The Spring 2013 schedule, by campus, is:

Writing Center
The Writing Center is available to assist with students’ writing needs for any class. Hours are designated each semester for students to bring by their writing assignments and receive assistance on everything from getting started to putting in proper citations. Complete an Instructor Referral form to apply. The Spring 2013 hours are:

COA Library
The COA library webpage provides a wealth of resources to help students with their writing and general research.
Smarthinking
Smarthinking is a tutoring assistance program available to COA curriculum students. The tutorial service gives students ten “credit” hours, per school year, of live around-the-clock tutoring assistance that is facilitated through online discussion boards or live chat with a tutor. Use the Quick Start guide for more information.
OWL Purdue
Through the Purdue Online Writing Lab, or OWL Purdue, students can access free style guides for their writing assignments. This website is especially helpful because it provides up to date MLA, APA, and Chicago style guides, as well as easy to follow examples for all potential sources.
