Elizabeth City — Through a partnership with the Northeastern Workforce Development Board and NCWorks, College of The Albemarle (COA) celebrated the newly established Career Development Center on Aug. 6. The ribbon cutting ceremony allowed an estimated 75 guests to tour the center, located in the AE building on the Elizabeth City Campus, and see the career-focused resources that will be available to students and individuals in the community.
Dr. Travis Twiford, interim president at COA, welcomed attendees with Zach Bray, Chair, Northeastern Workforce Development Board, providing remarks. Mr. Bray shared that the opening of the Career Development Center at COA expands the footprint of the NCWorks Career Centers, contributing to the economic growth of the 10-county region that NCWorks serves in Northeastern NC. Matthew Fowler, NCWorks Career Center Manager for the Elizabeth City and Edenton-Chowan Centers, will oversee the center, while COA provides the staff to help individuals with their career path opportunities.
The Career Development Center will offer career assessments, career guidance/counseling, resume assistance, interview skills, funding for training and job search assistance. Weekly workshops will also be available at the center. The center will be open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and every Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.
