COA’s Katie Cross to Attend Leadership Academy

Manteo, North Carolina — Katie Cross, Coordinator for International Student Services and Academic Advisor at College of The Albemarle’s (COA) Dare County Campus, has been chosen to participate in the inaugural Chief Student Development Administrators Leadership Academy.

The academy was developed through the North Carolina Community College System and will be hosted by Sandhills Community College for the 2019 – 2020 academic year. Only 12 applicants were chosen from across the 58 community colleges in North Carolina.

Cross has been employed at COA since 2014 and is an integral part of the Student Success and Enrollment Management department. She was also chosen as COA Professional Staff Member of the Year for 2019.

Tim Sweeney, Dean of the Dare County Campus, stated, “This is an outstanding opportunity for the college to give our staff the exposure to developing their leadership skills. Cross serves as our lead advisor for the Dare County Campus. She is a dedicated leader who has transformed the way the college has served our international student population.” Sweeney continued, “Being accepted into this leadership academy will allow Katie to share her expertise about the international community as well as receive additional training to mentor employees looking to move into a leadership role at COA.”
