Basic Law Enforcement Training

Program Overview

College of The Albemarle’s (COA) Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) offers the essential skills required for entry-level employment with state, county and municipal governments as well as with private enterprises.

We also offer noncredit BLET classes through our Workforce Development and Career Readiness department.

Core Classes

  • Criminal, juvenile, civil, traffic and alcoholic beverage laws
  • Investigative, patrol, custody and court procedures
  • Emergency responses
  • Ethics and community relations

Graduates receive a curriculum certificate upon passing the certification examinations mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, and/or the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission.

You can now use your BLET and ALET credits towards a Criminal Justice Technology degree.
