Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Education Program
The Adult Basic Education and Transitional Opportunities Program at College of the Albemarle’s (COA) College and Career Readiness program offers courses to help those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities enhance their educational and life skills. The courses provide a classroom experience in a college setting. Computers and course materials are used to enhance the following subject areas:
- Reading
- Math
- Other life skills
Qualifying students have the opportunity to transition into the workforce.

Admission
To join the Adult Basic Education and Transitional Opportunities program, complete the College and Career Readiness Application for Admission.
The following documents are required for admission:
- Social Security Card
- Unexpired state-issued photo identification (or passport or military identification)
