Fall 2020 Graduation
Graduates: Due to COVID-19, COA is not permitted to have a large, indoor graduation ceremony at this time. A walk-through graduation event will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at COA – Elizabeth City.
Graduates are welcome to walk through and get their pictures taken during this time frame. You do not need to reserve a time; however, you must let us know by Dec. 3 if you plan to participate:
All graduates are asked to wear full regalia (cap and gown). Once in the building, masks and social distancing will be required and coordinated by COA staff.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I park?
Students are asked to enter at the stoplight at the north side of campus closest to the YMCA and will be directed to the graduation site by COA security.
What will happen during this event?
You will enter the PAC from the main entrance and follow directions of staff. Once you get to the stage, your name will be called and you will walk across the stage in the PAC auditorium, just as you would in a formal graduation. The college photographer will take a formal picture that will be posted on the COA’s Facebook™ page.
May I bring guests?
Due to the current COVID-19 guidelines that limit gatherings, only COA faculty and staff will be in attendance.
Will masks be required?
Yes, face masks will be required.
Do I have to stay for the full event?
No, this event was designed to allow our graduates to drop in during the time frame that best fits their schedule. When you do arrive, you will be invited to walk across the stage and take photos.
Do I need to RSVP?
Yes, please let us know by Dec. 3 if you plan to participate by filling out this form.
Are caps and gowns required for this event?
Students should wear their cap and gown.
