COA President Tours Currituck County Area

Currituck, North Carolina — College of The Albemarle’s (COA) president, Dr. Jack Bagwell, spent the day in Currituck County on Wednesday, Jan. 15 touring a number of businesses and meeting area officials.

The day began with a tour of Quality Machine & Fabrication, Inc., a family-owned custom fabrication company located in Moyock. Following the tour of the facility, the group headed to the Currituck Terminal for the Knotts Island Ferry where the group learned about the ferry schedule and took a tour of the building. The group then headed to Currituck Health and Rehab Center, a site that serves as a clinical setting for COA health sciences programs such as Certified Nursing Assistant. Following lunch at Currituck BBQ, the remainder of the day included visits to Sanctuary Vineyards, Carolina Custom Cabinets and the Whalehead Club.

While hearing about the day-to-day operations at each business and prospective career opportunities available for COA students, Dr. Bagwell also discussed how the college can meet the needs of area businesses through potential partnerships, apprenticeships and customized training opportunities.
