College of The Albemarle Recognizes Basic Law Enforcement Training Students

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – College of The Albemarle (COA) recently celebrated students completing the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program during a graduation and recognition ceremony held August 12, 2026, at the COA Performing Arts Center.

The ceremony recognized students from the Spring 2026 BLET class, who successfully completed the program’s rigorous requirements in preparation for entry-level employment as law enforcement officers.

The keynote speaker for the ceremony was Colonel Christopher Lee of the NC Marine Patrol and NC Division of Marine Fisheries. Remarks were also provided by COA President Dr. Jack Bagwell and BLET Program Director Keith Jones.

During the 25-week training program, students completed more than 868 hours of instruction, including classroom learning, physical training, and practical exercises. The curriculum covers a wide range of law enforcement topics, including firearms, driving, patrol techniques, criminal investigation, emergency response, and compliance and control tactics. Students must also pass a comprehensive certification examination administered by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. All students from this Spring 2026 cohort passed the state exam.

Jesse Nicole Lynn Archambo, Pasquotank; Brandon Lee Coleman, Dare; Ferron Leigh Dulin, Camden; Dylan Reed Higgins, Pasquotank; Tristan Wayne Murdock, Pasquotank; Michael Wayne Reinke Jr., Currituck; Walker James Spruill, Washington; Camryn Blair Tate, Currituck; Frank Adam Wescott, Pasquotank; Mason Daniel Kennedy, Dare; and Scott Mahar Nesbit, Dare.

Partial students recognized during the ceremony include: Mason Daniel Kennedy and Scott Mahar Nesbit.

Special awards were presented during the ceremony to recognize outstanding training and academic performance.

The Academic Excellence Award was presented to Frank Wescott. Tristan Murdock received runner-up honors.

The Top Gun Award was presented to Frank Wescott, with Walker Spruill named runner-up.

The Iron Man and Iron Woman Award was presented to Frank Wescott and Jesse Archambo.

The Driver Supreme Award was presented to Ferron Dulin, with Walker Spruill and Brandon Coleman named runner-ups.

The Flawless Exam Performance Award was presented to Frank Wescott and Jesse Archambo.

The Law Enforcement Excellence Award, selected by Director Keith Jones, was presented to Jesse Archambo.
