College of The Albemarle Student and Faculty Recognized at NCCIA Conference

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — College of The Albemarle (COA) is proud to announce that Charles White, an Information Technology Computer Programming student, has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Brian Crump Memorial Scholarship presented by the North Carolina Computer Instructors Association (NCCIA).

The $600 scholarship, sponsored by the Stanly Community College Association of Student Computer Technicians and Information Technology Club (ASC/ITC), recognizes White’s dedication, academic achievement and commitment to computer programming.

White was recognized during the NCCIA Conference this spring.

In addition to student recognition, COA Information Technology instructors attended the conference and were recognized for recently earning industry certifications designed to strengthen instructional knowledge and student learning opportunities.

The following faculty members received recognition during the conference:

  • Sharon Brown – Critical Career Skills: Generative AI Foundations, issued by Certiport, a Pearson VUE business.
  • Thomyka Holloman – Microsoft Office Specialist: Word and Tosa for Microsoft Excel Certified User, Productive Level, issued by Isograd.

COA’s Information Technology programs prepare students for careers in programming, cybersecurity, networking, software support and other high-demand technology fields through hands-on instruction and industry-recognized credentials.
