Grade-Point Average (GPA) and Academic Probation

To maintain your academic eligibility for GI Bill benefits, you’ll need to maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. If you drop below the GPA, you’ll be placed on academic probation, which could result in cancellation of benefits.

If placed on academic probation, you’ll have the next term to raise your GPA to the minimum requirement. If you don’t meet the minimum by the end of your probationary semester, your Veterans Affairs (VA) certification will be terminated and your benefits will stop.

This doesn’t mean that you’ll have lost your GI Bill eligibility. It means that you won’t receive any more GI Bill money while at College of The Albemarle until your GPA is brought up to the minimum 2.0, when you may again receive your GI Bill benefits.

Resumption of payments is not automatic. To restart your benefits, please contact the registrar.
