ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — College of The Albemarle (COA) is appreciative of the opportunity to continue its strong partnership with Sentara Health, working together to expand opportunities for students and strengthen the future of healthcare in northeastern North Carolina.

Sentara’s support of COA includes both investments in student learning and contributions to the new Health Sciences Simulation and Expansion Center. As part of this project, Sentara supported the development of designated learning spaces, including the EMS simulation emergency room entrance and collaboration rooms on both floors of the facility. These spaces give students hands-on, real-world training experiences that prepare them for healthcare careers close to home.

In addition, Sentara continues its commitment to students through scholarship and emergency assistance programs that provide financial support and academic resources for those pursuing careers in healthcare and healthcare-related fields. This partnership, which continues for a third consecutive year, has helped more than 250 COA students remove financial barriers and pursue their education, helping build a diverse and highly skilled healthcare workforce for the region.

“Sentara’s investment in our college reflects the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment to transforming tomorrows for students and communities,” said Dr. Jack Bagwell, COA President. “Together, we are ensuring students not only receive an excellent education but also the resources, facilities, and opportunities they need to succeed in vital healthcare careers.”

“At Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, we understand the importance of preparing the next generation of healthcare providers,” said Teresa Watson, Sentara Albemarle Medical Center President. “We are honored to continue working with College of The Albemarle, investing in both facilities and scholarships that directly benefit students while strengthening healthcare across our region.”

From enhancing learning environments to helping students overcome financial barriers, the partnership between College of The Albemarle and Sentara Health continues to make a lasting impact on education, workforce development, and community health throughout northeastern North Carolina.
