College of The Albemarle’s Practical Nursing Program Ranked #2 by Practical Nursing Site

Elizabeth City, NC – College of The Albemarle’s (COA) Practical Nursing (P.N.) program was selected #2 in the 2024 Best LPN Programs in North Carolina by PracticalNursing.org. According to the site, 39 North Carolina institutions were analyzed, with the top 10 schools being ranked. The COA Practical Nursing program has ranked in the top ten on this site for several years.
Nursing programs across the state were assessed primarily on past and present first-time National Council Licensure Exam-Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN) pass rates from 2018 to 2022.

Robin Harris, College of The Albemarle Dean of Health Sciences and Wellness Programs, shared, “Achieving high pass rates is a goal, but our focus extends well beyond that. We are dedicated to ensuring our students receive a quality education that prepares them for the demands of the nursing profession, results in obtaining their licensure as an LPN, and promotes quality care of their patients. The success of this program is due to a shared commitment to excellence by Program Coordinator Jackqulyn Sawyer, our dedicated full-time faculty member Michelle McGrath, numerous part-time nursing faculty, and our supportive program staff. In addition, the valuable clinical partnerships and collaborations across North Carolina and Virginia are crucial in providing our students with the “real-world experiences” needed to be successful.
