ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – College of The Albemarle (COA) honored its 2026 Medical Assisting (MA) graduates during a pinning ceremony held Monday, July 20, at COA – Elizabeth City.

Graduates completed 840 classroom and lab hours, along with 240 clinical hours. During the event, graduates received their pins, participated in a traditional candle-lighting ceremony and recited the Medical Assisting Creed.
Special awards presented during the ceremony included the Academic Excellence Award, presented to Ma Vinna Roncali for outstanding academic achievement; the Stella B. Gallop Spirit of Medical Assisting Award, presented to Crystal Parsons for her passion for the profession and commitment to excellence in patient care; and the Alleene Thompson Memorial Scholarship, awarded by the Albemarle Area Medical Assistants to Carmen Maupin and Crystal Parsons. Parsons also received the Maxine Williams Scholarship from the American Association of Medical Assistants.
