COAST Players Bring the Beloved Classic ‘Charlotte’s Web’ to Life on Stage November 5–8

Welcome to the Zuckerman Barn! Charlotte Sadler, Elise Wilson, Aven Hall, Abigail Birchfield, other cast members welcome Wilbur to the barn in a rehearsal of COAST's fall musical, Charlotte's Web.

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – College of The Albemarle Student Theatre (COAST) Players proudly present “Charlotte’s Web,” a heartwarming musical adaptation of the beloved children’s classic by E. B. White, November 5–8 at the College of The Albemarle Performing Arts Center.

For generations, “Charlotte’s Web” has captured the hearts of readers with its timeless story of love, friendship, courage, and the bittersweet beauty of life. Now, audiences of all ages can experience the magic of this cherished tale brought to life on stage through memorable characters, delightful music, and a story that reminds us what it truly means to be a friend.

Adapted for the stage by Joseph Robinette, with music and lyrics by Charles Strouse, the Tony Award-winning composer of Broadway favorites “Annie” and “Bye Bye Birdie,” this charming musical celebrates the extraordinary power of friendship in the most unexpected places.

When Wilbur, a lovable young pig, learns that his days may be numbered, an unlikely hero comes to his rescue: Charlotte, a wise and compassionate spider who lives in the doorway of his barn. With a little ingenuity, a lot of determination, and some remarkable words woven into her web, Charlotte sets out to save her friend. Along the way, audiences will meet a colorful cast of barnyard characters, including the mischievous rat Templeton, as they discover that even the smallest among us can make an extraordinary difference.

“There’s something for everyone in this show, from exuberant dance numbers to plaintive ballads,” said director Sandra Krueger. “I am so excited to watch every scene and dance number. With 34 cast members deeply invested in their characters, there’s always a surprise!”

Filled with humor, heart, and unforgettable moments, “Charlotte’s Web” is more than a story about a pig and a spider. It is a celebration of kindness, loyalty, selflessness, and the lasting impact we can have on one another.

Whether you’re revisiting a childhood favorite or introducing this treasured story to a new generation, COAST Players invites you to experience the wonder of “Charlotte’s Web” and discover why some friendships are truly “terrific,” “radiant,” and “humble.”

Bring the whole family and join COAST Players for a theatrical experience that will leave audiences smiling, laughing, and perhaps shedding a happy tear or two.
