College of The Albemarle Holds Ribbon Cutting for ECU Health Chowan Hospital Culinary Classroom and Lab

COA ECU Culinary Ribbon Cutting

On March 27, 2024, College of The Albemarle (COA) held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the newly renovated ECU Health Chowan Hospital Culinary Classroom and Lab. The culinary classroom and lab are at COA – Edenton-Chowan, 118 Blades Street. College of The Albemarle employees, board members, ECU Health team members, Edenton and Chowan County leaders, and community members attended this exciting event and heard remarks from COA and ECU Health leadership. Refreshments were prepared by the COA Culinary Arts students, instructed by Chef Leslie Lippincott.

Speakers at the event included COA President Dr. Jack Bagwell; COA’s Dean of Workforce Development, Public Services, and Career Readiness, and COA – Edenton-Chowan Campus Administrator, Robin Zinsmeister; COA’s Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of Culinary Arts, Chef Leslie Lippincott; ECU Health Chowan Hospital President, Brian Harvill; and ECU Health Chowan Hospital Director of Strategic Operations, Brian White.

“When presented with the opportunity to support COA’s project for the Culinary Classroom and Lab, we were eager to participate, as our mission and COA’s purpose are so closely aligned,” stated Brian Harvill. “The partnership we have formed over the years is critically important to our organizations. ECU Health hires graduates in the school’s clinical and ancillary fields, and several of our team members have or continue to teach at the college. Again, this local touch and communication are so important for the future of our organizations in this area. We look forward to the continued efforts between our organizations and thank Dr. Bagwell and his team for the opportunity.”

“COA is extremely grateful for the invaluable partnership with ECU Health Chowan Hospital,” said President Bagwell. “Their support has been instrumental in renovating our culinary classroom and lab, which now provides a true restaurant experience for our students. Their commitment aligns seamlessly with our mission, enhancing educational opportunities and fostering community development. This collaboration not only strengthens our institution but also enriches the lives of our students and the community at large. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to ECU Health Chowan Hospital for their unwavering support and dedication to advancing education and innovation in our region.”
