Program Overview
College of The Albemarle’s (COA) Social & Human Services program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed for entry-level roles in social, community, and behavioral health services.
Through core and specialized coursework, along with hands-on learning opportunities, students gain practical experience for careers in government, private, and nonprofit agencies. Graduates may also choose to further their education at colleges and universities.
Degree and Certificate Options
+ Social & Human Services – Associate in Applied Science
This program prepares students for work in the human services field with the ability to manage client needs, programs, and casework.
+ Social & Human Services – Diploma
This Diploma program provides a foundation in the human services field, focusing on skills for entry-level roles in social work, counseling, and community services.
+ Social & Human Services – Certificate
This certificate provides specialized knowledge in human services to prepare students for various roles in client care, advocacy, and social service coordination.
+ Mental Health Certificate
This certificate provides essential training for professionals working in mental health, including understanding diagnoses, treatment plans, and crisis intervention techniques.
