COA Cares Fund

Earning an education and entering the workforce can be daunting enough on their own — but imagine having to do them without school supplies, appropriate clothes for an interview or while facing hunger.

No Matter the Need

The COA Cares program, established in 2019 by the faculty and staff of College of The Albemarle (COA), ensures the care and success of our students, no matter the need. It provides support and resources for students on their path to graduation and as they enter the workforce or transfer to a four-year institution.

COA Cares helps by:

  • Maintaining on-site food pantries accessible at all four COA locations
  • Providing a Career Closet with clothes for interviews and other employment needs
  • Offering free school supplies
  • Providing funds for certain financial emergencies
  • Coordinating internal and external referral services

The Need Grows

The Covid-19 pandemic continues to create challenges many students would not otherwise have had to face — layoffs, lost wages, hunger, childcare issues and even homelessness. While we have been able to secure computers and internet access for students as we’ve transitioned to online instruction, we continue to receive calls for help from individuals trying to meet other responsibilities while continuing their education.

As part of the COA family, you know education is the key to success. So, we’re asking you to join us in helping students by donating to COA Cares today.

Your monetary donation will make an immediate difference for a student impacted by the coronavirus. Together, we can provide gift cards for food, medication and gas, as well as assistance for housing and childcare.

Thank you for helping COA students continue to transform their tomorrow. While what tomorrow may bring may seem a bit uncertain, you’re joining the effort to offer some stability for our students during these unprecedented times.
