The College of The Albemarle (COA) Scholars Program Request was created as a result of the COA Foundation’s Board of Directors recognition that while some students don’t qualify for State or Federal Financial Aid, they’d still benefit from financial assistance to help pay for some of the cost of attending college. This scholarship is meant to help “bridge the gap” where state and federal assistance ends and college affordability begins.
“Although I was not eligible for financial aid, the COA Scholars Program Request provided me with an abundance of financial support. With the COA Scholars Program Request, I was able to sign up and attend the classes I needed for my degree!”
– Megan Bundy
The COA Scholars Program Request award will vary in amount depending on your enrollment status and the availability of funds. Unfortunately, we don’t have sufficient funds to help every student who qualifies for need-based assistance. We give priority to applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis.
This is awarded to students who meet specific criteria for financial need based on their Student Aid Index (SAI) generated from their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To qualify you must
- Complete the Foundation Scholarship Application
- Have a complete Federal Student Aid file
- Have an SAI between 7,000-13,000
- Maintain a 2.0 or better COA grade-point average
- Not receive State Grant funding or Dare Guarantee assistance
